Website for CA Firms: Cost, Must-Have Pages and the ICAI Rules You Have to Follow
A new client hears your name from a friend. Before calling you, what does he do? He searches for you on Google. If he finds nothing, or finds an old page with a missing phone number, a small doubt appears. If he finds a clean, professional website with your services, your team, and an easy way to reach you, he calls with confidence.
That is why more and more Chartered Accountants in India are building proper websites. But a CA firm cannot build a website the way a shop or a restaurant does. You are bound by the ICAI Code of Ethics. One wrong line, like "Best CA firm in Delhi", can create a problem you do not need.
This guide explains everything in plain language: what a website for a CA firm costs, which pages it must have, the ICAI rules you have to follow, and how to get more client enquiries without breaking any of them. We are RankDigi, and we have been building business websites for 15 years.
One important note first. We are web developers, not ICAI. The Institute has been revising its website and advertisement guidelines, so always read the current guidelines on icai.org before your site goes live. We explain the well-known rules below so you know what to ask for.
Does a CA Firm Really Need a Website?
Many CAs tell us, "My practice runs on references. Why do I need a website?" It is a fair question. Here is the honest answer.
- References still check you online. A referred client almost always searches your firm name before calling.
- Clients look for specific services. People search for "GST registration consultant" or "company incorporation CA near me". A website with clear service pages helps the right people find you.
- It saves your time. A good website answers the common questions: what you do, where you are, what documents are needed, how to book a meeting.
- It builds trust for bigger work. Audit and advisory clients expect a firm that looks organised.
- You control it. A social media page can disappear or change its rules. Your website is yours.
A website will not replace references. It makes every reference stronger.
ICAI Rules for CA Websites, in Simple Words
Under the Chartered Accountants Act, members in practice are not allowed to advertise or solicit work the way other businesses do. ICAI allows firms to have a website, but only within its Website Guidelines. Not following Council guidelines can be treated as professional misconduct, so this part matters.
These are the points ICAI's guidelines and advisories have traditionally stressed.
What a CA firm website should avoid
- Superlatives and claims. Words like "best", "leading", "top", or "number one firm" should not appear.
- Client names and client logos. A "Our Clients" strip with company logos is common on other business sites, but it is a known problem area for CA firms.
- Professional fees. ICAI advisories have said fees should not be mentioned, and neither should "free" services.
- Soliciting work. The website should give information to people who come looking. It should not chase people. This is the "pull, not push" idea. Pop-ups that beg visitors to hire you and bulk promotional messages do not fit this.
- Promotional photographs. The guidelines have traditionally allowed only simple, passport-style photos of members, not glamorous galleries.
- Styled firm name used like a logo. ICAI has had rules about logos and monograms for firms, so check the current position before designing one.
- Sharing details for "rankings". Paid listings that rank firms are another area the Institute has warned about.
What a CA firm website can include
- The firm name, year of establishment, and registration details
- Office address, phone number, email, and working hours
- Names, qualifications, and brief profiles of partners
- The areas of practice and the nature of services, described factually
- Useful knowledge content: articles, due date calendars, and updates
- A contact or enquiry form that a visitor chooses to fill in
- A disclaimer explaining that the website is for information only and is not a solicitation
The rules are being relaxed, so check the latest
ICAI has been working on relaxing parts of these guidelines, including points about event galleries and how websites may be presented. Revised guidelines were reported to be approved by the Council for 2026. Because of this, some things that were prohibited earlier may now be allowed. Before finalising your website, read the current Website Guidelines and Advertisement Guidelines on icai.org, or check with the Institute's Ethical Standards Board.
A careful developer will build your site so that any section can be switched on or off in minutes. That way you stay safe today and can add more when the rules allow it.

The Pages Every CA Firm Website Should Have
A good CA website is not a brochure. It is a calm, clear guide that helps a visitor decide to contact you. These are the pages that do the real work.
1. Home page
Within five seconds, a visitor should know who you are, where you are, and what you do. Keep it factual. "Chartered Accountants in Rohini, Delhi, established 2008" is stronger than any slogan, and it is fully within the rules.
2. About the firm
The firm's history, the year it was established, your offices, and your approach to work. Write it like you would explain it to a new client across the table.
3. Partners and team
Name, membership details, qualifications, and areas of experience for each partner. People hire people. A simple profile with a formal photo builds more trust than paragraphs of text.
4. One page for each service
This is the most important part, and the one most firms get wrong. Do not put every service in one long list. Create a separate page for each main area:
- Income tax return filing and tax planning
- GST registration, returns, and audit
- Statutory audit and tax audit
- Company and LLP incorporation
- ROC compliance
- Bookkeeping and payroll
- Startup and MSME advisory
On each page, explain who needs the service, what documents are required, how the process works, and the usual timeline. This is useful information, not advertising. It is also exactly what Google shows to people searching for that service.
5. Knowledge centre or blog
Due date calendars, simple explanations of new rules, and answers to common questions. This is the safest and most effective way for a CA firm to be found online. You are sharing knowledge, and people who need help find you through it.
6. Contact page
Address, phone number, email, working hours, a map, and a short enquiry form. Add a click-to-call button and a WhatsApp chat option for mobile visitors. Make it effortless to reach you.
7. Disclaimer and privacy policy
A clear disclaimer, and a privacy policy that explains how you handle the data people send through your forms. With India's data protection law in place, this is no longer optional for a firm that handles financial information.
Useful Features That Bring Enquiries (Within the Rules)
- Appointment request form. Let visitors choose a service and a preferred time.
- Document checklists. A downloadable list for ITR filing or GST registration saves you ten phone calls a week.
- Compliance calendar. A page of important due dates that clients return to every month.
- Secure client area. A login where clients upload documents safely, in place of sending them on WhatsApp.
- Fast loading on mobile. Most visitors arrive on a phone. A slow site loses them. Our speed optimization service fixes this.
- Google Business Profile. Your website and your Google listing work together for local searches. Our local SEO guide explains how.
How Much Does a CA Firm Website Cost?
These are the typical ranges in India in 2026:
- Basic practice website (5 to 7 pages): ₹15,000 to ₹30,000
- Professional firm website (10 to 15 pages, service pages, blog, enquiry forms): ₹30,000 to ₹80,000
- Firm website with a client portal (secure logins, document uploads, multiple offices): ₹1,00,000 and above
For most firms with one to five partners, the professional firm website is the right choice. It has the service pages and knowledge section that actually bring enquiries.
At RankDigi, a complete business website starts at ₹24,999. A client portal or other special features are quoted separately as custom development. You will also have small yearly costs for your domain and hosting, usually ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 a year. For a wider view of pricing, see our guide on how much a business website costs in India.

Mistakes We See on CA Firm Websites
- Copying text from another firm's site. Google ignores copied content, and it looks careless.
- One page listing 30 services. Nobody reads it, and it cannot rank for anything.
- No phone number at the top. The most important detail is hidden at the bottom.
- A site that does not work on mobile. Text too small, buttons too close, forms that break.
- Risky wording. "Best", "top", "guaranteed refund", client logos, and fee tables added by a designer who did not know the rules.
- An outdated blog. A last post from three years ago makes the firm look inactive.
- The domain is in the developer's name. Your firm's online identity should always be registered to you.
If your current site has these problems, you do not always need a new one. A website redesign can fix the structure and wording while keeping what already works.
What to Keep Ready Before You Start
A firm website moves quickly when the basic material is ready. Before you call any developer, collect these.
- Firm details: the exact registered name, year of establishment, office addresses, phone numbers, and email.
- Partner profiles: name, qualifications, years of experience, and a formal photograph for each partner.
- Your main services: list the five to eight areas that bring most of your work. These become your service pages.
- Common client questions: the ten questions you answer on the phone every week. They become your FAQ and your first articles.
- A domain name idea: usually your firm name with .com or .in. Register it in the firm's own email account.
- One decision maker: choose one partner to approve the design and the wording. It saves weeks.

How We Build Websites for Professional Firms
Professional firms need a different approach from shops and startups. Here is how we work.
- We start with your rules. Before any design, we note what your profession allows and what it does not. For CA firms, we keep superlatives, client logos, fee tables, and pushy pop-ups out of the site.
- We plan service pages first. These pages bring the enquiries, so they get the most attention.
- We write in plain, factual language. You review every line before it goes live, so the final call on compliance is always yours.
- We build it fast and mobile-first. With click-to-call, WhatsApp, and a short enquiry form.
- We hand over full control. You get an admin panel to update articles, due dates, and team details yourself. The domain and hosting stay in your firm's name.
- We stay available. Our maintenance plans cover updates, backups, and security.
A typical firm website takes 2 to 4 weeks. You can see the kind of work we do in our portfolio.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Chartered Accountant have a website in India?
Yes. ICAI permits members and firms to have a website, as long as it follows the Institute's Website Guidelines and the Code of Ethics.
Can a CA firm do SEO for its website?
Making your website clear, fast, and well-structured so that people searching for information can find it is generally seen as part of a normal, pull-based website. Paid advertising and solicitation are different matters and are restricted. Confirm the current position with ICAI's latest guidelines before running any promotion.
Can we show client testimonials or client logos?
ICAI's guidelines have traditionally not allowed client names and logos on a firm's website. Until you have confirmed the latest rules, leave them out.
How long does it take to build a CA firm website?
Usually 2 to 4 weeks, if the firm details, partner profiles, and service information are ready. Our guide on website timelines explains what affects this.
Can we update the website ourselves?
Yes. You get a simple admin panel to add articles, change due dates, and edit team details without calling a developer.
