Real Estate Website Development: Features and Cost for Builders and Brokers in India
Buying a home is the biggest purchase most Indian families ever make. Nobody does it in a hurry. Before a buyer visits a single site, he has already spent weeks on his phone, comparing projects, checking locations, reading about builders, and looking at floor plans.
So here is the real question for every builder and broker: when that buyer searches for you, what does he find? A property portal listing where your project sits next to twenty competitors? Or your own website, where the only project on the screen is yours?
This guide explains real estate website development in simple terms. You will learn which features a builder or broker website really needs, what the law requires you to show, how much it costs in India in 2026, and how to turn website visitors into site visits. We are RankDigi, and we have been building business websites and custom web applications for 15 years.
Why Portals Alone Are Not Enough
Property portals are useful. They bring traffic. But depending only on them has real costs.
- You pay for every lead, again and again. The moment you stop paying, the leads stop.
- The same lead goes to many brokers. By the time you call, three others already have.
- Your project is shown beside your competitors. The portal's job is to keep the buyer browsing, not to sell your project.
- You build no asset. After five years of paying, you own nothing.
Your own website works the other way. Every enquiry is yours alone. It keeps working at night and on holidays. And it grows in value every year as more pages rank on Google.
The smart approach is to use both: portals for reach, and your own website as the place where serious buyers land, trust you, and enquire.
Three Types of Real Estate Websites
"Real estate website" can mean three quite different things. Know which one you need before you ask for a quote.
1. Broker or agent website
For individual brokers, channel partners, and small agencies. It shows who you are, the areas you cover, your current listings, and how to reach you. The goal is trust and quick enquiries.
2. Builder or developer website
For construction companies. It presents the company, its completed and ongoing projects, and a detailed page for each project. Larger builders often add a separate page or mini-site for each new launch.
3. Property listing portal
A searchable platform with hundreds or thousands of properties, filters, user accounts, and sometimes multiple agents posting listings. This is custom software, not a normal website.
Must-Have Features for a Real Estate Website
Property and project pages that answer everything
A buyer should not need to call you for basic details. Each project or property page should show:
- Price or price range, with configuration (2 BHK, 3 BHK, plots, shops)
- Carpet area and floor plans that open clearly on a phone
- Real photos and, if possible, a walkthrough video
- Amenities, specifications, and possession date
- Location map with nearby schools, hospitals, metro, and highways
- The RERA registration number, clearly visible
- A brochure download, and a "Book a site visit" button
Search and filters
If you have more than ten or fifteen listings, buyers need to filter by location, budget, type, and size. Good filters keep visitors on your site. Poor ones send them back to the portals.
Lead capture on every page
This is where most real estate websites fail. A single contact page is not enough. Every project page needs its own short enquiry form, a click-to-call button, and a WhatsApp chat button. The form should ask only for name, phone, and the project of interest. Each extra field loses you leads.
Brochure and price list downloads
Buyers love downloading brochures. Ask for a name and phone number before the download starts. It is one of the simplest and most effective ways to collect genuine leads.
Site visit booking
Let the buyer choose a date and time. A booked visit is far more valuable than a general enquiry, and it gives your sales team a clear next step.
EMI calculator
A simple home loan calculator keeps buyers on your page and helps them see that the property is within reach.
Speed and mobile design
Real estate pages are heavy with photos and plans. If they are not optimised, the site crawls on mobile data, and the buyer leaves. Most property searches in India happen on phones, so mobile is not a "version" of your site. It is your site. If your current site is slow, our speed optimization service can help.
Lead alerts and CRM connection
Every enquiry should reach your sales team instantly by email and WhatsApp, and be saved in one place. If you use a CRM, the website can send leads straight into it. A lead called within ten minutes is many times more likely to convert than one called the next day.

RERA: What Your Website Must Show
Under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, promoters must mention the project's RERA registration number and the website address of the state RERA authority prominently in their advertisements. Websites and online promotions are treated as advertisements too.
State authorities take this seriously. Several have issued orders against promoters who left the number out or showed it in tiny, hard-to-read text. Some states have also published their own guidelines on how the number should be displayed in digital promotions.
In practice, a compliant real estate website should:
- Show the RERA registration number on every project page, in clear, readable text
- Mention the website of your state's RERA authority
- Avoid promises that do not match the registered project details
- Use real images, and label artistic impressions as such
- Show the agent's RERA registration number, if you are a registered agent
Rules differ from state to state and change over time. Treat this as a practical starting point, and confirm the details with your legal adviser or your state RERA authority before launch.
How Much Does a Real Estate Website Cost in India?
These are the typical ranges in 2026:
- Single project landing page: ₹9,000 to ₹30,000
- Broker or agent website (up to about 30 listings): ₹25,000 to ₹60,000
- Builder website (company pages plus several project pages): ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh
- Property listing portal (search, filters, accounts, agent logins): ₹1.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh and above
Your own cost depends on the number of projects or listings, the features you want, and whether you need custom software.
At RankDigi, a landing page for a single project starts at ₹8,999, and a complete business website starts at ₹24,999. Listing portals, CRM connections, and other special features are built as custom PHP and Laravel development and quoted after we understand your needs.
What changes the price
- Number of listings or projects. Ten properties and a thousand properties are different jobs.
- Search and filters. Advanced search by map, budget, and locality takes real development.
- Who adds listings. Only you, or many agents with their own logins?
- Integrations. CRM, WhatsApp alerts, SMS, payment for booking amounts.
- Content. Professional photos, videos, and 3D walkthroughs are usually arranged separately.
- Languages. Hindi or a regional language version adds work but can bring more local buyers.
Yearly running costs
Plan for a domain (₹800 to ₹1,500 a year), hosting (₹3,000 to ₹15,000 a year, more for image-heavy or high-traffic sites), and maintenance. Our maintenance plans start at ₹1,999 a month. For general pricing, read how much a business website costs in India.

WordPress or Custom Software: Which Do You Need?
This one decision changes your cost more than anything else, so it is worth getting right.
WordPress is enough if you are a broker or a builder with a manageable number of projects, and only your own team adds listings. You get property pages, filters, enquiry forms, and an easy admin panel at a much lower cost. Most brokers and small to mid-size builders fit here.
Custom software makes sense if you want many agents to log in and post their own listings, need advanced map-based search across thousands of properties, want paid listing plans, or need the website tightly connected to your CRM and booking system. That is a product, not a website, and it should be planned and budgeted like one.
A good developer will ask about your listings, your team, and your growth plans before recommending either. Be careful of anyone who suggests expensive custom software for a 20-listing brokerage, or a basic theme for a portal with agent logins.
How to Get More Leads From Your Real Estate Website
A good-looking website is only the beginning. These steps turn it into a lead machine.
- Create a page for every project and every locality. People search for "3 BHK in Dwarka Expressway" or "plots in Greater Noida". A focused page for each search brings buyers who know what they want.
- Set up your Google Business Profile. It puts your office on Google Maps and brings local calls. Our local SEO guide shows how.
- Invest in SEO for the long run. Ranking for locality searches takes months, but those leads cost you nothing per click. See our SEO service.
- Send ad traffic to a landing page, not the home page. One project, one offer, one form.
- Reply within minutes. Speed of response decides who gets the site visit.
- Keep listings fresh. Sold-out units and old prices destroy trust. Update them weekly.
- Show proof. Completed projects, possession photos, and approvals reassure nervous buyers.
Mistakes That Cost Builders and Brokers Leads
- Only artistic renders, no real photos. Buyers trust construction progress pictures.
- Forms with ten fields. Name and phone are enough to start.
- No phone number or WhatsApp button on mobile. The buyer should reach you with one tap.
- Floor plans as tiny, blurry images. They must be zoomable and clear.
- The RERA number is missing or hidden. It is a legal risk and a trust killer.
- The site was built once and never updated. An outdated "Upcoming" tag on a project delivered two years ago says the company is careless.
- The website is not in your name. The domain and hosting must belong to your company.
If your present website has these problems, a redesign is often faster and cheaper than starting again. How We Build Real Estate Websites
- We understand your sales process first. Who calls the lead? How fast? What information do they need?
- We plan the project pages. Each one is built to answer the buyer's questions and ask for the enquiry.
- We build mobile-first and fast. Heavy images are compressed so pages open quickly on mobile data.
- We connect your leads. Instant alerts by email and WhatsApp, and a dashboard where every enquiry is saved.
- We hand over control. You can add projects, update prices, and mark units as sold from a simple admin panel.
- We stay with you after launch. For updates, new project pages, and improvements.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a real estate website cost in India?
A broker website usually costs ₹25,000 to ₹60,000, a builder website ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh, and a full listing portal ₹1.5 lakh or more. A landing page for one project can start under ₹10,000.
Can I add and remove properties myself?
Yes. A proper real estate website has an admin panel where you add listings, upload photos, change prices, and mark properties as sold without a developer.
Is it mandatory to show the RERA number on the website?
The Act requires promoters to mention the registration number prominently in advertisements, and state authorities treat websites and online promotions as advertisements. Confirm the exact rules for your state with your legal adviser.
How long does it take to build?
A landing page takes about 1 to 2 weeks, a broker or builder website 3 to 6 weeks, and a listing portal two to four months.
Can the website send leads to my CRM or WhatsApp?
Yes. Leads can be sent by email, WhatsApp alerts, and directly into most CRMs, so your sales team can respond in minutes.
